How do i stop my puppy from rolling over and biting when i grab him by the collar?

If my dog is in trouble I will grab him by the collar and lead him to where he needs to go (outside, into the backyard etc). But he has developed a habit of rolling over as soon as I start to lead him somewhere by the collar and trying to bite and paw at my hand. I assume it’s because he knows he’s in trouble and i’d like stop this habit before he can do real damage. He is about 5 months old.
